<title>August Bank Holiday 2011</title>
<description><![CDATA[During the bank holiday period IT Services will continue to run "weekend" services. Staff will be unavailable from 5:00 p.m. Friday 26th August until 8:30 a.m. Wednesday 30th August. The Computing Labs on the ground floor of the Haslegrave building will be accessible by swipe card from the rear of the building. Staff and students will need their cards to gain entry to the building. The print / copy devices will be available for use until they run out of paper. Please ensure that you switch off your staff computer over Bank holiday weekends.

<title>HallNet Patching during at risk period Tues 7 June</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p>IT Services will be changing some HallNet settings to help alleviate connection speed problems reported by students.</p>
<p>The change will be implemented within the advertised 'At Risk' period (7am to 9am Tuesday 7 June), and if everything goes well, you won't notice any change - except possibly a faster network connection.</p>
<p>If we experience problems,&nbsp;the change will be reversed mid-morning.</p>

<title>Exchange outages for affected staff</title>
<description><![CDATA[<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>An issue has been identified affecting a quarter of all staff on the Staff Exchange Email system. In order to fix this, IT Services need to carry out urgent maintenance.</span></p>
<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>&nbsp;</span></p>
<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>The work will be mostly performed out of hours. There will be email outages for individual members of staff between the hours of 6pm and 8am, while the repair is performed. Outages will last less than an hour, although this will vary depending on the size of each person&rsquo;s mailbox. </span></p>
<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>&nbsp;</span></p>
<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>We will need to disable access to email for these people for 15 minutes on Fridays at 1 p.m to allow us to create a backup of email as a precaution.</span></p>
<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>We are scheduling the backup over lunchtime following user feedback on timing at a recent IT incident review meeting.</span></p>
<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>&nbsp;</span></p>
<p class='MsoNormal'><span style='color: black; font-size: 10pt;'>During this time staff using Outlook 2007 or 2010 will be able to continue using Outlook with emails sent/received being queued and delivered once service is restored.&nbsp; Staff webmail will be unavailable for this short time.</span></p>
